PROTECTING YOUR DIAMOND
Fortunately, the task of taking care of your diamond is quite simple. You could follow some of the steps mentioned below to ensure your diamonds always sparkle.
Soak your jewellery in a small bowl of warm water with any mild detergent. Gently brush the diamond jewellery with a soft toothbrush. Then, rinse each piece under warm running water. Pat dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
The use of ammonia, it sounds like it might be too harsh, but it's one of the most common ways to clean diamond jewellery. Use rubber gloves with this solution. Place the jewellery in a small bowl containing a half-and-half solution of ammonia and cold water for thirty minutes. Lift out and gently tap around the front and back of the mounting with a soft brush. Swish in the solution a second time, rinse and dry on tissue paper.
Another very interesting and effective way is using vodka. Preferably choose a vodka that you are not going to tingle your taste buds with. Simply let the diamond jewellery soak in a glass of vodka for a minute or two and rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a soft cloth.
KUNDAN & POLKI JEWELLERY
With due care and proper storage, Kundan & Polki jewellery take the place of cherished heirloom pieces’ part of our treasured collection.
We recommend that these pieces be stored in sealed boxes with soft cloth lining and wrapped in soft tissue. Moisture and adhesives used in a lot of packing boxes weakens the lustre of Polki.
Take care to protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Most of the coloured stones have a soft composition and can easily chip if hit against hard services. Gemstones can scratch other gemstones and wear away at precious metals. Therefore, avoid stacking those rings and bracelets that would be vulnerable to such abrasion.
If worn often, pearls should be cleaned and restrung professionally once a year with knots between each pearl to prevent loss in case the string breaks.
